Speaker:
Dr. Nicole M. Francis, Ed.D. Program Manager for Smart Global Solutions (JV) LLC
and NASA Research and Education Support Services (NRESS). She manages this National
Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) Headquarters Consolidated Contract
in Washington, DC and Arlington VA. This is a $134.9 million cost plus, 8(A)/GSA
Minority Business Contact to provide scientific and educational technical support to
NASA Headquarters Mission Directorates and NASA Centers. Her staff of 90+; support
NASA for peer review services, technical support and special projects for the Space
Science, Earth Science, Aeronautics, Human Exploration Opportunities (HEO), Space
Technology and Education Department Mission Directorates. Projects that she has managed include work
on the Educator Astronaut Program, the International Space Station (ISS) Education/Science laboratories and
support of the NASA Space Shuttle Program. Dr. Francis also serves as a Board Member on the Smart
Global Solutions, LLC (JV) Board of Directors that governs the NASA NRESS Contract. Nicole also provides
consulting services to Government Contractors and Commercial Companies in Aerospace and Defense,
special interests, and risk and change management.
Dr. Francis takes pride in being a former NAACP National Staff member as an Education Policy Manager
and National Interim Education Director.
Awards to be presented:
The Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Award will be presented to Corey J. Hodges, Pastor of
New Pilgrim Baptist Church. He is a former Columnist with the Salt Lake Tribune, promoter
of Human Rights and a strong community supporter of Civil Rights.
The Rosa Parks Award will be presented to Anne Burkholder, Chief Executive Officer,
YWCA of Salt Lake City. She believes in fighting racism, empowering women and companies
while promoting justice and equality.
NAACP Scholarships: CR England, Hires Big H, Kronstadt Civil Rights Scholarship,
Mahatma Gandhi Scholarship from Vijaya Sharma Foundation, Smith’s Food & Drug
and Utah Jazz Scholarships will be presented to Utah College Students.
